Godfrey paces 9-0 Central soccer triumph over South Johnston

Sophomore Savannah Godfrey scored four goals as the Harnett Central varsity girls soccer team improved to 3-0 on Tuesday night with a 9-0 win over visiting South Johnston.

Diana Castro opened the scoring in the second minute.

Godfrey’s first goal came in the third minute with Ava Hollingsworth assisting.

Godfrey closed the game on the mercy rule with a breakaway goal in the 70th minute.

Hollingsworth and Austin Bowling each had a goal and two assists. Kelsey Camacho and Alexis Gordon each had a goal and an assist.

Carla Cardenas, Christina Williams and Sinai Beltran each had an assist.

Daisy Velasquez was in goal for the shutout.

Central is scheduled to host East Wake on Thursday at 6 p.m. South (0-3-1) will be home to take on Midway (0-1-1) on Thursday at 5 p.m.
