The pro shop is closed but the course is open at Chicora Golf Club in Erwin as efforts continue around the world to limit the coronavirus.

Chicora General Manager Whit Bradham said players pay by credit card. Cash is not being accepted. The procedure is for players to call the club (897-7366) and give their credit card information.

“Then they can go to a cart, which has the key in it, and go directly out to play,” Bradham said.

The course is specifying one player per cart. Tee times have been spaced out to keep groups separated.

Golfers do not need to touch the pins because there are collars in the holes. Players can pick their balls out of the cup without removing the flags. Rakes also have been removed from sand trips to avoid touching common surfaces.

Carts are sanitized after use.

Bradham said volume of play has been relatively steady as many people have more time for activities during the COVID-19 restrictions.
