There were some huge swings as Cleveland hosted South Johnston in the first round of the Greater Neuse 3-A Conference varsity boys basketball tournament on Monday night.
South outscored the Rams 13-0 in the third quarter for a 28-24 lead before Cleveland came back for a 51-44 victory with a 27-16 advantage in the final period.
South coach Brody Massengill changed from a zone defense to man-to-man in the third quarter.
JaQuain Smith led the Trojans (10-14) with 17 points. C.J. Ray had 14 points and Jacob Thornton added seven.
In the opening game at Cleveland on Monday night, fifth-seeded West Johnston ousted fourth-seeded Smithfield-Selma, 71-61.
