Hat tricks send Eagles to shutout soccer victory as volleyball splits with K-V

Caden Scarborough and Gunner Dorman each had three goals as Cape Fear Christian Academy took a 6-0 nonconference varsity boys soccer win over visiting Kerr-Vance on Tuesday.

Justin Chestnut was in goal for the shutout that put the Eagles at 3-2-1 overall going into a Mid-Carolina Conference match at home against Bradford on Friday at 5 p.m.

Scarborough had 11 shots on goal and Dorman had seven. Tayloe Smith and Tyson Stephens each had three shots on goal. Micah Andemichael had two shots on goal. Putting a shot apiece on goal were Fisher Stancil, Chris Crume. John Jackson and Steven Hicks.

Chestnut had three saves behind a defense anchored by Conner Parrish, Crume, Eli Burns and Joel Harless.

Volleyball

CFCA’s junior varsity took a 2-0 win over visiting Kerr-Vance on Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-9 and 25-16 as the Eagles improved to

Kerr-Vance rallied for a 3-2 varsity volleyball win after CFCA won the first and third sets for a 2-1 advantage.

Set scores for CFCA (2-6) were 25-18, 19-25, 26-24, 22-25 and 13-15.

The CFCA varsity hosts Bradford on Friday at 5 p.m. in Mid-Carolina Conference play. The Eagles won a match hosted by the Archers (0-6) by a 3-0 margin on August 22.
