Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity baseball team will be looking to bounce back from an 8-4 nonconference loss to visiting Kerr-Vance on Friday as the Eagles host Southside on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

The Eagles (2-3) rallied from a 5-0 deficit after two innings with two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth before the Spartans added three runs in the sixth.

None of the runs in the sixth were earned against Eli Burns, who allowed three hits over the last four innings in relief with one walk and five strikeouts.

Zeke Brock, Fisher Stancil and Burns had two hits each for the Eagles. Jakson Cullen and Mason Gregory each had a hit and two RBIs. Conner Parrish had a hit and drew two walks. Taylor Smith had a hit and scored a run.

CFCA third baseman Cole Godwin left the game with a wrist injury.
