The Triton varsity boys basketball team trailed Lee County 13-7 after eight minutes on Senior Night for the Hawks.

Triton got the Tri-County Six 3-A Conference contest turned around by outscoring the Yellow Jackets, 16-4, in the second quarter.

Senior Derreon Burnett made all six of his field goal attempts and three of four free throws for 15 points in a 47-43 win as the Hawks improved to 11-13 overall and 4-6 in league play.

“I’m happy for our seniors,” said Triton coach T.J. Morrison. “They had a big, memorable week, beating Harnett Central and winning Senior Night. We’re defending well enough to give us a chance.”

Emari White had 11 points. Travion Sanders scored seven. Kalil Hodges tallied six. Colby Parker added four points. Josiah Lett and Byron Smith had two points each.

A Triton comeback fell short in the girls game. The Lady hawks trailed 10-2 at the conclusion of the first quarter and were behind 35-24 after the third quarter. Lee managed a 48-44 win.

Triton’s girls finished the regular season 8-16 overall and 3-7 in the league.
