Triton hosted C.B. Aycock in a nonconference varsity softball game matching teams with 13-3 records.

The Wednesday night contest had been postponed from Monday.

The Hawks defeated their former Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference opponent, 8-3, as Appalachian State signee Leanna Whaley pitched a complete game.

Whaley allowed eight hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Getting two hits each for Triton were Haley Hicks, Kaila Cooney, Brittany Ireland, Hayden Smith, Whaley and Kathryn Elliott.

The Hawks visit Lee on Friday night at 6:30.
