Triton overcame an early Harnett Central advantage to top the visiting Trojans, 66-58, in double overtime on Monday in the first round of the All American Conference varsity boys basketball tournament.
The second-seeded Hawks (17-8) advanced to host Westover (16-9) in the semifinals on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Jamaury Taylor led the Hawks with 24 points on nine for 18 field goal shooting. Demarbiaz Devane scored 19 with 10 rebounds in the win.
Ro’mello Pegues added 11 points and eight rebounds. Ahmad Morris had nine rebounds. Brandon Surles had seven assists.
Central led 26-10 at halftime in the final game for Trojans coach Will Gage, who is retiring after 33 years.
“Our kids played hard,” Gage said. “The ball didn’t bounce our way in the second half.”
Triton had won previous meetings this season, 76-44 at Central on January 14, and 71-47 at home on Feb. 17.
