Triton’s varsity boys basketball team was on the road Tuesday night as the No. 18 seed in the East 3-A bracket of the NCHSAA playoffs.
The Hawks (19-9) earned a trip to take on second-seeded Southern Durham (26-2) in the second round on Friday at 6:30 p.m. with a 77-71 win at No. 15 Eastern Alamance (16-10).
“We started out well,’ noted hawks coach T.J. Morrison on a 16-7 lead after eight minutes. “From there, we had to maintain our poise and composure.”
Ro’mello Pegues paced Triton with 24 points. Demarbiaz Devane had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Jamaury Taylor tallied 11 points.
The Hawks got nine points and six assists from Brandion Surles. Ahmad Morris added nine points and 13 rebounds.
