Dylan Smith, Travion Sanders, Myjalik Giles, C.J. James and Malihk Giles had scoring receptions for host Triton in a 7-on-7 football scrimmage with Athens Drive on Wednesday morning.

J.P. Petoletti and Sanders rotated at quarterback. The Hawks outscored the Jaguars, 6-2.

“I was pleased with us showing up and getting back into it after spring, having taken three weeks off,” said Triton coach Ben Penny. “Today was actually the first day we’ve put helmets on since November.”

The Hawks’ helmets were being reconditioned during spring workouts.

Penny has been pleased with offseason work in the weight room.

“Now, it’s about fine tuning our skill set,” Penny said. “Starting the summer off on a good note, it was a good thing.”

Triton goes to Cleveland on Tuesday and Midway on Thursday for 7-on-7 matchups. The Hawks travel to Mount Olive for a camp in July.

Triton starts the season at home against Overhills on Aug. 23.
