Triton was down three starters in 7-on-7 passing scrimmages at Cleveland on Tuesday. Garner and Hunt also participated.

The Hawks were without receivers Dylan Smith and Levi Bennett, due to family vacations. Receiver Malihk Giles was held out with a mild injury.

“We were going against teams with a lot of tradition, a lot of wins historically,” said Triton coach Ben Penny. “It ended up being a pretty good day. I thought our quarterbacks (J.P. Petoletti and Travion Sanders) improved from the first 7-on-7 last week. … We had some drops.

“Cleveland is as good as there is at attacking weaknesses. Garner was missing their quarterback, but they were incredibly athletic.”

The Hawks had their moments in all three matchups and outscored Hunt, 3-0.

Triton visits Midway for 7-on-7s with multiple teams starting on Thursday at 8 a.m.
