Hawks play summer hoops games

Triton’s varsity boys basketball team went 4-2 in games at Friendship High School in Apex on Friday and Saturda,y.

The Hawks opened with a 51-29 win over Jordan Matthews before falling 55-43 to Smithfield-Selma. Triton defeated Carrboro 63-53 in the third game on Friday.

The Hawks turned back Northwood’s second team 55-39 on Saturday before absorbing a 59-46 loss to Apex. Triton finished with a 56-44 win over Lee County.

“Lee didn’t have their big guy,” noted Hawks coach T.J. Morrison. “We had six guys each day.”

Triton was without returning starters Chrishaun Henry on Friday and Kalil Hodges on Saturday.

“I was impressed with Colby Parker on Friday and Jahad Hart on Saturday,” Morrison said. “Kalil is steady at the point. I think Emari White is better.”

The Hawks were without Travion Sanders and Derreon Burnett both days.

Triton is scheduled to host Clinton for a scrimmage on Thursday night this week.

The Hawks are going to Middle Creek on Friday and Saturday for three games each day.
