Morgan Goff was back at Triton on Monday evening and so was her former coach for the Hawks, Eric Long.

Triton retired Goff’s No. 6 jersey before absorbing a 6-0 varsity girls soccer loss to Durham Riverside, where Long currently coaches.

Goff scored 52 goals and had 12 assists for the Hawks as a sophomore in 2014. She went on to play at UNC and professionally.

“We played really hard,” said Triton coach Brian Foster. “They’re just a good team playing some 4-A soccer in the Triangle.”

Caroline Alcala led the Pirates (8-3-3) with a pair of goals. Zoe Cordell had a goal with two assists.

Triton, which is 6-9 overall and 4-6 as a 3-A entry in the All American Conference, returns to league play at Western Harnett (2-11, 2-8) on Tuesday (April 18) at 6:30 p.m.
