One night after sustaining a 2-1 home loss to South Johnston, the Triton varsity boys soccer team earned its first win of the season by a 1-0 margin in a rescheduled contest at South.
“It was a really hard-fought game between two evenly-matched teams,” said Hawks coach Brian Foster. “Cristian Delcid was really good in goal for us. He came out and claimed a lot of balls strongly and made several key punches on crosses that kept them from having shots on goal.”
Foster also credited Brian Andrade, Joshua Dixon, and Taft Stevens for their defensive efforts.
The game’s only goal came in the first half as Fernando Santiago scored on a well-placed assist from Bert Strickland.
