Triton scored twice in the second half to pull away from host Overhills for a 3-1 All American Conference varsity boys soccer win on Friday.

The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute as Benny Villalvazo scored on an assist from Luis Elizalde Valente.

The Jaguars (2-5, 1-3) equalized in the 22nd minute on a penalty kick by Brian Martinez.

Omar Hernandez had the go-ahead goal in the 52nd minute.

Hernandez assisted Villalvazo in the 71st minute.

“We created several scoring opportunities, but our finishing was a little less than what I would like,” said Triton coach Brian Foster. “I think that comes down to lack of practice time once the season gets started.

“Defense was on point once again and snuffed out several opportunities for Overhills before they could get started.”

Triton is scheduled to host Harnett Central (4-2, 3-0) on Monday at 6 p.m.
