The Triton boys basketball team returned from quarantine to down visiting Lee County, 63-36, on Friday night and complete a Tri-County Six 3-A Conference varsity sweep.
The Hawks were 31-27 winners in the girls game.
The Triton boys led 15-5 after eight minutes and outscored the Yellow Jackets in each quarter. Campbell baseball signee Dalen Thompson hit six of 11 shots from the floor in leading the Hawks (2-3, 2-1) with 14 points. Thompson had four assists and three steals.
Jalen Evans added 11 points on four for five shooting and had seven assists.
Triton made 24 of 48 field goal attempts for 50 percent.
Jamari Amerson and Luke West had nine points each in the win. Will Heard, Amir Jenkins, Xavion Richardson and Nate McKoy scored four points apiece. Hayden Pope and Diontae contributed two points each. McKoy claimed a team-high five rebounds.
The Hawks host Harnett Central in a make-up boys game tonight (February 6) at 6 p.m.
The Lady Hawks (8-1, 5-1) were paced by 13 points, eight rebounds three assists and five steals from Anastasia McDonald. Tristan Ennis had five points, nine rebounds and five steals.
Kaila Cooney had five points for the Triton girls. A’Shari Watlington had four points. Abby Hood and Aubree Bass scored two points each. Hood had four steals.
The Lady Hawks outscored Lee, 12-7, in the fourth quarter.
Triton also swept Lee on January 19 in Sanford. The Hawk teams are back in the Brick City on Tuesday to face Southern Lee.
