HC baseball edged in battle at DHC

Johnny Grizzard drove in Paul Gervase and Jackson Yarbrough to give Harnett Central a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning of a first round NCHSAA baseball playoff game at D.H. Conley on Wednesday night before the Vikings rallied for a 3-2 win.

Central completed the season with an 8-13 record.

Conley improved to 21-5 and will host Western Harnett (13-14) in the second round on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Jared Raynor, Matthew Bailey, Grizzard, Justin Perkins and Gervase had hits for the Trojans in the season finale.

Raynor and Gervase had doubles.

N.C. State signee Baker Nelson pitched a complete game for Central. He walked three and struck out six.
