The Harnett Central varsity boys soccer team took its first win of the season on Tuesday night with a 3-0 nonconference shutout at South Johnston.
Central (1-3-1) lost to South 3-2 at home on August 27 and followed that with a 2-1 defeat at Overhills on August 29.
HC fortunes began to change as senior Zach Sippel scored on a breakaway in the third minute at South.
Angel Ramirez scored on a deflected corner in the 39th minute as the visitors led 2-0 at the half.
Jonathan Solis scored in the 69th minute as David Bautista got his second assist.
Sippel assisted on the second goal for Central, which hosts Cleveland on Monday.
Hector Alejandre and David Aguirre combined in goal for the shutout.
South visits Triton tonight for a 6:30 start.
