Harnett Central got its first varsity football win of the season on Tuesday night, 24-0, at Smithfield-Selma.

Brandon Booker had two touchdowns for the Trojans, a 2-yard run in the second quarter and an 8-yard carry in the final period.

John Rhody scored on a 38-yard run in the second quarter.

Hayden Smith connected with Kasey Perkins for an 18-yard touchdown pass in the final quarter.

“We keep improving each week,” said Central coach Matt Migliore. “We were missing some key players this week and others stepped up. It was a good team victory.”

The game was moved up from Friday night to Wednesday and then to Tuesday evening due to avoid the threat of severe weather.

The Spartans fell to 0-5.

The Trojans are scheduled to visit Riverside of Durham on Friday, September 21.
