Host Harnett Central got a 9-yard scoring run from Brandon Booker in the third quarter for the only touchdown of the game as the Trojans opened the season with a 7-0 win over West Johnston on Saturday night.
The game had been postponed from Friday due to weather and was played despite showers.
Central, coming off a 1-9 season in 2018, equaled its win total for last season. West Johnston was 1-10 a year ago with its only victory coming by a 31-22 margin at home against Central.
Booker had a run from midfield to set up the lone score.
The Trojans had not won their season opener since a 22-20 home win over Triton in 2011.
