BC Astros win, 1-0, on Sunday

BUIES CREEK — Brandon Bielak and Hector Perez combined for a shutout as the Buies Creek Astros topped visiting Lynchburg 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Bielak (4-3) allowed two hits over five innings while striking out six without a walk. Perez did not allow a hit over the last four frames to record his first save.

Chas McCormick had an RBI double in the second for the game’s only run. J.J. Matejevic scored after leading off with a single.

The final game of the series is tonight at 6.

The Lynchburg Hillcats took a 3-1 win over the Buies Creek Astros on Saturday evening at Jim Perry Stadium.

On Friday night, the Astros took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly by Matijevic that scored Ronnie Dawson and the hosts never trailed in a 5-1 win over visiting Lynchburg.

The Astros added three runs in the sixth on a double by Abraham Toro that scored Osvaldo Duarte and a two-run single by Luis Payano. Kristian Trompiz came in on a wild pitch in the seventh.

Brandon Bailey went six innings for the win. He allowed four hits with no runs while walking two and striking out four.
