A bad punt snap was the catalyst for Hobbton’s 56-21 playoff win over visiting Lakewood on Friday night.
With the scpre tied at 13 in thr first minute of the second quarter, a high snap with the Leopards punting resulted in a safety for the Wildcats.
The miscue preceded 30 unanswered points for Hobbton (5-6), thr No. 15 seed in thr East bracket of the NCHSAA 1-A playoffs.
The Wildcats will travel to second-seeded Northside-Pinetown (9-1) in the second round.
Loden Bradshaw completed 20 of 26 passes for 288 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Josiah McLaurin had nine catches for 143 yards and two scores. Colby Weeks had two catches for 93 yards with a TD.
Bobby Dial rushed 15 times for 52 yards with two touchdowns. McLaurin had a 46-yard scoring run.
Lakewood, which finished 4-7, had a 42-28 win at Hobbton on Oct. 15.
