Cape Fear Christian Academy opened its varsity basketball season with road losses to Trinity Christian of Fayetteville at the Fuller Recreation Center.
Trinity pulled away to a 56-23 win in the girls game and the Crusaders won the boys game, 80-58, despite 31 points from Zeke Brock.
“That was a very good team we played,” said CFCA girls coach Ray Butts. “They were long, athletic and really good shooters. We played them tough for two and a half quarters.”
Perri Caroline Ennis had 10 points for the Lady Eagles. Glenna McLamb and Laney Trainer scored four each. Ella John Dupree netted three points and Savannah Autry added two.
Jakson Cullen scored 11 points for the CFCA boys and Lathan Wilborn tallied four.
“We played much better than Saturday,” said Eagles boys coach Dwain Ellis.
CFCA lost, 77-44, to Northwood Temple in a jamboree at the Fuller Center over the weekend.
The Eagles host Wake Christian for junior varsity boys, varsity girls and varsity boys games on Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
