Hunt takes 21-7 win at South

Wilson Hunt scored a pair of touchdowns in the second half, capping a 21-7 win on Thursday night at South Johnston with an 8-yard scoring run by C.J. Joyner with eight minutes to play.

Kysheem Green scored late in the first half for the hosts on a pick six.

South visits Triton next Friday night.

The Hawks took a 56-27 win in the previous season’s matchup, hosted by the Trojans on September 6, 2019. Triton had 430 yards rushing. The bulk of the ground game was provided by then-seniors Travion Sanders and Romello Cowan.

Sanders had nine carries for 147 yards with three touchdowns. Cowan had 26 rushes for 243 yards with three scores.

Quarterback J.P. Petoletti is back for the Hawks in a new pistol Wing-T set.

Triton was scheduled to visit Knightdale on Friday to start the 2021 season.
