Cape Fear Christian Academy has announced that J.D. Johnson is the new varsity boys basketball coach.

Johnson met with Eagles players on Tuesday night.

“I am beyond thrilled,” Johnson said of his new post.

Most recently, Johnson coached Statesville Christian to a 27-6 record in 2017-18. The Lions reached the quarterfinals of the NCISAA 1-A Tournament before falling 51-49 at Burlington School.

Johnson was a four-time academic all-conference performer at Lake Erie College from 2003-07.

He also has coached at High Point Christian Academy.

CFCA is coming off an 11-20 season against a demanding schedule. The Eagles compete in the Sandhills Athletic Conference, which includes Trinity Christian of Fayetteville, the 2018 NCISAA 1-A champion.
