Jaguars complete sweep after gymnasium cleared

Overhills swept its varsity basketball games with visiting Western Harnett on Friday night, taking a 67-30 boys win after a 59-18 victory in the girls game.

Photographer Paul Burgett reported that the gym was cleared in the second quarter of the boys game after a fight in the stands.

The Jaguar boys improved to 5-5 overall and 2-1 in the All American Conference as senior Corshon Stewart led the scoring with 11 points on five of six field goal shooting.

Adding eight points each were Deshaun Barton, E.J. Stokes and Chauncy Kelly.

Kayden Haynes had six points as Western’s boys slipped to 0-12.

The Overhills girls (5-6, 1-2 AAC) got 20 points from Najiha Allen and 18 from Araiah McGhee.

The Western girls (3-8, 1-2) were led by eight points from Jamiah McDougald.

The Jaguars travel to Westover for league games Tuesday while the Eagles will host Triton.
