BUIES CREEK — Taya Bolden scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Campbell to a 53-42 women’s basketball win over UNC Wilmington on Tuesday night at Gore Arena.
The Camels (3-2) rode a 19-4 run in the first half to build a double-digit advantage and UNCW was never able to trim the gap to single digits.
The Seahawks shot just 37 percent (16-43) on the night, made just 2-of-7 beyond the arc and committed 17 turnovers that the Camels converted into 20 points.
Bolden produced her second double-double of the season, while hitting 7-of-13 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the stripe. Five of her boards came on the offensive glass.
Faith Price came off the bench to add nine points on 3-of-4 threes for the Camels, who led by as many as 22.
Trailing 35-13 at the half, UNCW used an 11-3 run to pull within 49-38 on Sierra DaCosta’s corner three with 4:42 remaining in the contest. However, Bolden scored on a backdoor cut off Shy Tuelle’s feed, then added a putback to make it 53-38 with 2:22 left.
DaCosta led UNCW (1-4) with 16 points on 5-of-14 shooting.
Campbell shot 39 percent (20-51) on the night and finished with a 33-28 edge on the boards. Tuelle had five assists for CU, which finished with 15 assists on 20 made baskets.
The Lady Camels return to action Sunday (Nov. 28) for a 1 p.m. tipoff at East Carolina.
