BUIES CREEK — Caroline Bowns registered her first career double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Taya Bolden paired 14 points with 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double this season as Campbell defeated USC Upstate 61-41 in a Big South Conference women’s basketball game on Tuesday night in Gore Arena.
Bowns went 4-for-8 from beyond the arc to reach double-figures for the second straight game, while Bolden scored a team-high 14 points that included a 4-for-4 effort at the free-throw line. Shy Tuelle added 13 points for her sixth conference game in double-digits.
Hayley Barber dished out a career-high seven assists while committing just two turnovers.
The Camels forced 27 USC Upstate turnovers, while coming away with 14 steals. Both Bolden and Lauren Carter finished with four steals.
With the score tied at 35 with 57 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Barber hit two free throws to earn CU the 37-35 advantage at the end of three.
Bolden scored Campbell’s first eight points in the fourth quarter to push CU’s lead to 45-39 with 4:39 to go. The Camels closed out the final 3:32 on 14-0 run, pulling away with the 20-point win.
