BUIES CREEK — Taya Bolden scored 17 points to lead Campbell to a 63-52 Big South Conference women’s basketball win over Charleston Southern on Saturday at Gore Arena.
Christabel Ezumah added 12 points while Shy Tuelle and Brittany Staves each had 11 for Campbell (18-5, 12-2 Big South), which pulled away with a 10-0 run late in the first quarter.
Bolden made 6-of-11 shots from the floor and added eight boards for the Camels who made 49.0 percent of their shots (25-51).
Sharita Godfrey led Charleston Southern (2-21, 2-10) with 16 points and eight boards while Tori Gittens and Skylar Baltezegar tallied 12 each.
After CU led by as many as 17, the Buccaneers cut their deficit to six late in the third quarter with a 7-0 run. The Camels answered behind two layups from Ezumah followed by a 3-point play from Staves to extend the lead back to double-figures.
Campbell, which led for more than 38 minutes, finished with a 34-20 edge in points in the paint and scored 17 points off of 20 Charleston Southern turnovers.
CU returns to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. for its final road game of the regular season at Hampton.
