Eagles post varsity sweep

Cape Fear Christian Academy’s varsity basketball teams swept visiting Triangle Math and Science of Cary in nonconference games on Monday night.

The Eagle boys improved to 16-7 with a 92-39 victory as E.J. Bethea scored 19 points and Lucas Capalbo had 18. Marcus Owens had 10 points.

Riley Adams had nine points in the win, Parker Watson scored eight and Eli O’Brien netted seven.

Ramiro Arrillaga and Greg Moneymaker added six points each. Owen Gregory scored four. Dillon Butler had three points and Spencer George tallied two.

Girls prevail

CFCA’s girls won, 46-35, as Leah Brannon scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half.

Kristen Bass added 12 points for the Lady Eagles (6-5). Aubree Bass had 10 points.

Talisha McNeill scored eight points. Anslee McLamb tallied two.

CFCA returns to Sandhills Athletic Conference play on Tuesday night, hosting Fayetteville Christian.
