The Triton varsity girls basketball team downed visiting Southern, 35-31, in a Tri-County Six 3-A Conference game on Tuesday night.
Anastasia McDonald scored 14 points and Kaila Cooney tallied 12 as the Lady Hawks improved to 10-8 overall and 5-2 in league play.
Abby Hood and Tristan Ennis each had seven rebounds in the win. McDonald had three steals.
The Cavaliers won the varsity boys game, 66-37, as the Hawks slipped to 9-11 overall and 2-5 in the league.
Keionta Burnett and Travion Sanders each had eight points for Triton. Leyton Kelly added seven points.
Sanders finished with three assists and three steals. Jamari Amerson had three assists.
“Tough night all around,” said Hawks boys coach T.J. Morrison. “We couldn’t score or defend.”
Triton visits Western Harnett on Friday night.
