After East Central 2-A Conference losses to Clinton and East Duplin, the Midway varsity girls basketball team returned to the league win column with a 62-29 win over visiting James Kenan on Friday night.
J.J. Sankey had 16 points and seven steals as the Lady Raiders improved to 13-2 overall and 2-2 in conference contests. Sydney Williams had 12 points and eight steals for Midway. Allison Belfowers and Alyssa Wrench had 10 points each in the win.
The Lady Raiders were coming off a 51-37 nonconference win at Neuse Charter on Wednesday (Jan. 9) in which Sankey had 19 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
The Midway varsity boys (5-10, 0-4) won 66-56 at Neuse Charter before falling 72-63 to James Kenan despite 29 points from Jamar Autry.
The Raiders host Wallace-Rose Hill in league play Tuesday night and will meet Neuse Charter at Campbell’s Gore Arena on Wednesday night.
