Host Ridgecroft scored a goal in the 78th minute to edge Cape Fear Christian Academy, 2-1, in the quarterfinals of the NCISAA 1-A girls soccer playoffs on Thursday.
Lexie Crumley’s goal have the Eagles a 1-0 lead at the half.
“The team played well,” said CFCA coach Michael Breslin. “A defensive mistake allowed them to score.
“Their second goal came after Grace (Viox, Eagles goalie) stopped a breakawaybut the other team collected the loose ball before we could clear.”
The Eagles, seeded No. 5 in the NCISAA tournament, finished 7-5.
