Mount Olive basketball signee Leah Williams has been named Female Athlete of the Year at the HighSchoolOT Honors presentations.

An evening of awards was conducted at the Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts in Raleigh on Saturday.

The versatile Williams has been a three-sport varsity starter in volleyball, basketball and softball since her freshman year at Midway.

She served as a captain on both her volleyball and basketball teams since her sophomore year, and was selected as a softball captain as a senior.

She was named the East Central 2-A Conference Player of the Year in volleyball and basketball after posting her 1,000th career dig in volleyball and her 1,000th career point in basketball.

Williams averaged 21.1 points per game her senior year in basketball. She hit .324 in softball.

Midway’s volleyball team advanced to the third round of the state playoffs this past season, while the basketball made it to the second round of the state tournament.

Williams was the first female athlete in school history to be named conference player of the year in two sports in the same season this year, as she did so in basketball and volleyball.

She was also recognized as the Sampson county player of the year in both sports.
