Lillington put out of Dixie Majors district baseball tournament

Host Lillington battled and did not quit, but suffered a 7-4 loss to Hope Mills in an elimination game in the Dixie Youth District 11 Majors (12-amd-under) baseball tournament on Monday.

After falling to Lillington on the first day of the tournament Saturday, Hope Mills has battled back to reach Tuesday’s championship opposite Dunn.

Hunter Barefoot had two hits and one run scored, Ayden Young had one hit and one run scored, Landis Eller, Sawyer Hawkins, Noah Osborne and Easton Brown had one hit apiece and Keoki Monte and Hunter Simon scored one run apiece for Lillington.,.l.

Hope Mills scored one run in the first inning, two in the second, one in the fourth and three in the fifth. Lillington scored one run apiece in the first, third, fourth and sixth innings.

Hope Mills will meet Dunn in the championship at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dunn needs just one win to claim the district title. A Hope Mills win would force a decisive game scheduled for 8 p.m. Tuesday.
