BUIES CREEK — Longwood closed the game on a 16-6 run to claim a 65-61 win over Campbell on Saturday in Big South Conference women’s basketball at Gore Arena.
Anne-Hamilton Leroy scored 17 points and Adriana Shipp added 13 for the Lancers (6-17, 5-7 Big South), who made 23 of 28 free throws (.821) and ended a two-game losing streak.
Erika Joseph scored a career-high 20 points for Campbell (13-10, 8-4), which hit just 17 of 31 (.548) from the line. Christabel Ezumah added 14 points and a career-best 16 rebounds for her second-straight double-double. Audrey Fuller chipped in 15 points for the Camels.
Fuller scored 11 points during a 12-4 Camel burst and her wing three with 7:31 to play put Campbell ahead 55-49. Campbell only made one field goal the rest of the way and dropped its third game at home this season.
In a game that featured nine lead changes and nine ties, Longwood shot 34.5 percent (19-55) overall and made four of 12 (.333) threes. Campbell hit 36 percent (18-50) of its shots, eight of 27 (.296) beyond the arc.
Campbell returns to action Wednesday for a 7 p.m. start at High Point.
