Cape Fear Christian Academy’s middle school basketball teams played at home as No. 1 seeds in conference tournament semifinals on Monday.
The girls defeated Cresset Christian of Durham, 36-17, and will host Crossroads Christian of Henderson today at 4 p.m. for the league tournament championship.
The boys were without starting post player Brandon Brooks due to a leg injury in a 55-51 loss to Village Christian in the Southeastern Conference semifinals.
Girls
CFCA improved to 16-1 as Bailey Avery led the way offensively with 10 points.
Christianna Wynns netted eight points. Ella Wilborn had six points. Lily Kate Dupree scored five. Aubrey Horne tallied four. Campbell Phillips had two points and Isabella Autry added one point.
Boys
The Eagles, the regular season champions in the SEMSAC, led most of the game but the Knights used their size advantage down the stretch to advance to the championship Thursday at O’Neal.
Cade Godwin had a season high 19 points, hitting some big 3-pointers late in the game for CFCA (15-3).
Fisher Stancil scored 13 points. London Hinson had nine points. Eli Shwaikeh scored six points and Ethan Beasley had four points.
