Midway baseball falls at Randleman, softball ousted at South Granville

Midway was limited to hits by Cal Tyndall, Colby Pope and Austin Peterson in a 7-0 loss at Randleman on Tuesday night in the third round of the NCHSAA 2-A baseball playoffs.

The Tigers (23-5) scored in each of the first five innings.

The Raiders (18-6), champions of the East Central Conference, got three innings on the mound from junior Chandler Williford. He allowed eight hits, five runs (all earned) with two walks and three strikeouts.

Sophomore Cal Tyndall pitched two innings with two hits and two runs (one earned) while walking two and striking out one.

Freshman Sawyer Sutton tossed one inning and allowed one hit.

Softball downed

Midway’s softball team was knocked out of the NCHSAA playoffs with a 13-0 loss at South Granville on Tuesday night.

The Raiders (18-6) won the East Central Conference championship.
