Midway baseball shuts out East Duplin

Chandler Williford and Sawyer Sutton combined for a one-hit shutout as Midway’s varsity baseball team won 8-0 at East Duplin on Thursday night.

Drew Matthews had a hit and drove in two runs as the Raiders improved to 10-4 overall and 5-1 in the East Central 2-A Conference.

Midway was coming off a 15-0 nonconference home loss to Rosewood on Wednesday night.

Austin Peterson had two hits and one RBI on Thursday night for the Raiders. Cameron Barefoot had two hits.

Carson Calcutt had a hit and an RBI. Cal Tyndall and Williford also had hits.

Tyndall had two stolen bases.

Williford had 10 strikeouts in six innings.

The Raiders have a nonconference game at Hobbton on Monday night.
