Midway leads 2-A golf

Midway held a 15-shot lead in the NCHSAA 2-A golf tournament at Whispering Pines after shooting a 319 in the opening round on Monday.

The Raiders were led by a one-under-par 71 from sophomore Logan Patrick, Player of the Year in the East Central 2-A Conference. Midway played early on Monday and was scheduled to play the later rounds in the final day of play today.

Patrick had a one-shot lead in the individual standings over Zach Byers of Shelby going into today’s round. Chandler Perry of Clinton was third at 73. Patrick birdied Nos. 15, 16 and 18 on Monday.

Andrew Eldridge posted an 82 for the Raiders on Monday. Trey Pope and Jordan Sullivan each shot 83s.

Central Academy was second after 18 holes at 334 and Lake Norman Charter was third at 335.
