Midway opens its baseball season by downing HC, 15-4

Midway opened its 2019 baseball season with a 15-4 win in five innings at Harnett Central on Tuesday night.

Campbell signee Chandler Williford went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Raiders. Cameron Calcutt and Cal Tyndall each had two hits and drove in a pair of runs. Carson Calcutt had two hits and scored three runs.

Also getting hits for Midway were Brayden Coats, Jaron Register, Drew Matthews, Eli Culbreth and Cameron Barefoot.

Sawyer Sutton started on the mound for the Raiders and went three innings. Culbreth held the Trojans scoreless over the last two frames. The duo recorded 11 strikeouts.

The Raiders are scheduled to host Rosewood on Thursday at 6 p.m. Central (0-3) is scheduled to play South Johnston (0-1) at home tonight (Wednesday, March 6) at 7.
