Midway wins 2-A state championship in golf as Patrick takes individual title

Midway completed its mission to win the NCHSAA 2-A golf championship on Tuesday as sophomore Logan Patrick finished at even par 144 at Whispering Pines to lead the Raiders to a 639 total, 28 shots ahead of the second-place finisher.

Patrick shot 73 on Tuesday. Trey Pope came in with a 75 to finish at 158. Andrew Eldridge and Jordan Sullivan each contributed 86s to the Midway total on Tuesday.

The state title was the fourth team championship for the Raiders, who won 1-A football in 1978, 1-A baseball in 1981 and 2-A baseball in 2014.

Midway golf coach Glenn Patrick, Logan’s dad, was a multi-sport athlete for the Raiders.
