Midway wins in five innings

Midway scored 11 runs in the fourth inning in taking its East Central 2-A Conference varsity baseball game at Wallace-Rose Hill on Friday night by a score of 17-2 in five innings.

The Raiders improved to 12-5 overall and 6-2 in the league going into a nonconference game at Lakewood on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Carson Calcutt was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Jason Register went 3-for-4 with an RBI against the Bulldogs (8-11, 2-6). Austin Peterson had two hits and two RBIs. Chandler Williford had a hit and two RBIs. Cal Tyndall had two hits and an RBI. Brayden Coats, Cameron Barefoot and Cameron Calcutt also drove in runs.

Williford pitched three and two-thirds innings with eight strikeouts. Sawyer Sutton finished on the mound.

Midway was a 5-1 winner in softball, upping its record to 11-5 for the season and 6-1 in East Central games.

The Raiders (8-5-1, 4-4) took a 4-0 win in girls soccer.
