Miller, CFCA part ways

Dwight Miller apparently is out after five years as varsity boys basketball coach at Cape Fear Christian Academy.

Miller compiled a 90-73 record with the Eagles.

His teams made the NCISAA 1-A tournament each season, playing for the state title in 2016.

CFCA went 11-20 against a demanding schedule in 2017-18 and won its first-round game in the state tournament.

Miller helped multiple players to the next level including Quentin Jackson to Charlotte and Henry Odunze to Howard. Jackson has since transferred from the 49ers.

Miller was not sure as to why he had been relieved of his duties.

“Never had anything but great reviews,” he said. “I’m at a loss.”

CFCA headnmaster Karen Parker was not available for a response at mid-day on Monday.

CFCA restructured its athletic department before Miller’s departure with Lolita Tripp taking over as interim athletic director for Justin Boyles.
