MS softball rallies in eighth for SEMSAC tournament title, unbeaten season

Down a run going into the bottom of the eighth inning, the Cape Fear Christian Academy middle school softball team rallied for a 4-3 win over visiting Freedom Christian on Monday to win the Southeastern Athletic Conference tournament and complete a 12-0 season.

Sailor Phillips led off with a triple for CFCA in the eighth and scored the tying run on a hit by her sister, Finley Phillips, who came home with the winning run on a drive by Avery Lassiter.

Finley Phillips pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts.

The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the first on a triple by Aubrey Horne and a double by Lassiter.

The hosts tied the score at 2 with a double by Finley Phillips that scored Sailor Phillips.

The Cape Fear Christian Academy middle school softball team won the regular season and tournament championships in the Southeastern Athletic Conference.
