NCHSAA releases playoff pairings

The NCHSAA released playoff pairings in baseball, girls soccer and softball on Monday.

South Johnston will be playing two road games on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Trojans (13-9), seeded 24th in the Eastern bracket in baseball, travel to take on Greater Neuse 3-A Conference champion Clayton (!2-9), the No. 9 seed.

The Comets and South split their regular season meetings with the Trojans winning 11-1 at home on March 22 before Clayton posted a 3-2 victory at home on March 27.

In softball, South (!2-8) is the No. 21 seed and plays at No. 12 Triton (17-6).

Harnett Central (15-8) is the No. 10 seed in softball after winning the Tri-County Six 3-A Conference and will host No. 23 East Wake (9-8) in the first round on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

In baseball, Harnett Central (8-12) is the No. 31 seed and will visit second-seeded D.H. Conley (20-5) in the opening round on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

In girls soccer, Central (8-6) is the No. 28 seed and will visit No. 5 New Hanover (9-8-3) on Tuesday (tonight) at 7 p.m.

Midway is playing two first round games at home on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The Raiders (16-5) are the No. 6 seed in Eastern 2-A baseball and will meet No. 27 Bertie (11-13). In softball, Midway (16-5) is the No. 8 seed and will take on Ayden-Grifton (13-7), the No. 25 seed.

Western Harnett (12-14) is the No. 15 seed in baseball and will be at home Wednesday at 6 p.m. to play C.B. Aycock (18-6), the No. 18 seed. The Eagles softball team (6-14), the No. 32 seed, will play on the road Wednesday at 6 p.m. against top-seeded West Brunswick (21-1).
