N.C. State signee Baker Nelson pitched a complete-game shutout with 12 strikeouts as Harnett Central won its Tri-County Six 3-A Conference varsity baseball opener 2-0 Friday night at Lee County with Jared Raynor driving in both runs in the eighth inning.
Johnny Grizzard had two hits for the Trojans (2-2) and scored. Nelson helped his own cause with a hit, a stolen base and a run.
Central had nine hits with Hunter McLamb, Paul Gervase, Parker Hawkins, Jackson Yarbrough and Austin Swan contributing to that total.
Nelson (2-0) allowed five hits with one walk.
Central hosts Lee (2-5) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
