New classifications and conferences are coming to the NCHSAA.
The North Carolina High School Athletic continues to work on new conference affiliations within an expanded classification system.
Teams are grouped from 1-A (smallest) to 8-A (largest) based on enrollment numbers for the realignment for the 2025-26 school year.
The third draft of proposed conferences was released Friday.
A 6-A conference in the draft will include Harnett Central, Lee County, South Johnston, Southern Lee, Triton, Union Pines, West Johnston and Western Harnett.
South Johnston and West Johnston were added to the league since the first draft.
Overhills would be 7-A in a combined conference with Jack Britt (7-A), Pine Forest (7-A), Richmond County (7-A), Hoke County (8-A) and Pinecrest (8-A).
Midway (3-A) would be in a league with 3-A schools including Goldsboro, James Kenan, Princeton, Spring Creek, Wallace-Rose Hill and 2-A Rosewood.
Hobbton (2-A) is grouped with 2-A programs that include East Bladen, Lakewood, North Duplin, Union, West Columbus and 1-A East Columbus.
Schools will have an opportunity to appeal the placements to the NCHSAA board of directors before the realignment assignments become final.
