Cape Fear Christian Academy began a new era in varsity softball with a 9-5 win at Fayetteville Christian on Tuesday.
The Eagles have new coaches with Greg Kennedy being assisted by Tommy McLamb.
Another program addition, eighth-grader Caylee Braswell, had a 3-run triple in a decisive 5-run seventh inning among her three hits, which also included a double.
Returning all-state performer, Glenna McLamb, who is committed to Gardner-Webb, limited the Warriors to two hits while striking out 16.
McLamb helped her own cause with three hits, including a double. She scored one run and had an RBI.
Shortstop Megan Harrold had a hit and two RBIs at the top of the order with a walk and a stolen base.
Highly recruited Kristina Kennedy was 1-for-1 with three walks and scored two runs.
Sailor Phillips had a hit and scored a run. Hailey Dupree drew a walk and scored. Larah Tripp had a hit, an RBI, drew a walk and scored a run.
CFCA will host Wallace-Rose Hill on Thursday at 4 p.m.
