The Fayetteville Woodpeckers played their first home game in new Segra Stadium on Thursday night.

Attendance was 6,202. Capacity for the facility is listed at 4,786

The Carolina Mudcats (9-6) won the Carolina League baseball matchup, 7-5, on a 2-run homer by Tristen Lutz in the top of the ninth inning. The blast left Lutz with a .130 batting average.

The Woodpeckers got solo homers from Colton Shaver in the fourth inning and Seth Beer in the seventh.

The same teams were rained out Friday and are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday.

Houston’s entry in the Carolina League played as the Buies Creek Astros the last two seasons while Segra Stadium was being built. The BC Astros won the league playoffs in 2018.
